Essential Shakers - July 2020

Essential shakers

1. Sault - Untitled (black is)

Amazing third album from the enigmatic Sault, this has got to be my favourite release this year so far. Highlight for me is the beautiful Wildfires track. This album seems to get better with each listen, if you've not cheked Sault yet have a listen on the link above, all three of their albums are essential listening.

2. Amerian Gypsy - Inside Out

Back to 1974 for this heavily sampled killer funky bassline. Proper sunshine funk, if you've not heard this before you'll have heard something that sampled it!

3. Zara McFarlane - Roots of Freedom

Hot off the press just released a few days ago a slice of hypnotic jazz dub from Zara's latest album "Songs of an unknow tongue"

on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood label.

4. Dele Sosimi x Medlar - Full Moon

More summer groove here, a unique collaboration between the U.K.'s very own Afrobeat Ambassador, Dele Sosimi, and a producer who's been at the forefront of the South London electronic music scene for a decade now, Medlar.

5. Jamie 3:26 - Purple

If you know! dancefloor destroyer, Jamie rejigs the artist formerly known as

6. Caribou - Never Come Back (Floating Points Remix)

Serious dancefloor action with Floating Points on the remix, I was throwing shapes around the kitchen to this one just a few evenings ago.

7. Take Vibe EP - Take Vibe

Crackin' jazz cover of the Stranglers' Golden Brown, a favourite from my school days, the flipside ain't half bad either.

9. La escollera session one - Phat Phil Cooper / Gavin Hendrick.

Just discovered this lovely selection of tunes mixed for La Escollera Restaurant in Ibiza, essential baearic business for your ears.

Cheers to Phil Cooper for the freebie! Check it here..

10. The Lions - Loser

Brand new release from The Lions. Top notch reggae soul as per usual from the lions on this NYC trust release.
